FAQ

Please find below some of our most common questions asked by our site visitors. If the answer your looking for is not here then please feel free to contact us.

Q. What is Inkjet?

A. Inkjet is a non-contact dot-matrix printing technology in which droplets of ink are jetted from an aperture directly onto a substrate to create an image. There are two types of inkjet, Continuous and Drop on Demand.

Q. What is a continuous Inkjet printer?

A. By applying pressure and a wave pattern to an orifice, the ink stream can be broken into droplets of uniformed size and spacing. When the drop break-off is controlled, an electric charge could be applied on the drops selectively and reliably as they formed out of the ink stream. The charged drops when passing through the electric field were then deflected into a gutter to be re used, and then the uncharged drops would fly onto the substrate to form the image. This printing process is known as  continuous ink-jet. Companies that use such technology are Domino, Imaje, Linx, Scitex and Videojet.

Q. What is Drop on Demand?

A. Drop-on-demand device's eject ink droplets only when they are used in printing an image onto the substrate. Unlike continuous inkjet the drop on demand has no continuous ink stream so no need for a gutter to return un used ink. Drop on Demand falls within four main categories, they are Acoustic, Electrostatic, Piezoelectric and Thermal. Companies that manufacture such technologies are Cannon, Hewlett-Packard, Spectra, Xaar and Xerox.

Q. What type of printers do you work on?
